Engine diagnostics are only included in the cost of repair when the diagnostic procedure required to identify the repair is part of the repair. We know many places out there tell you that the diagnostic will be discounted if you agree to the repair but it just gets built into the final bill somewhere else . Tune Rite Auto and many other reputable mechanic shops will breakdown the exact cost of the repair. The cost/time to diagnose and repair are separate.

Tune Rite Auto offers a free courtesy check with every visit. This covers things like fluids, filters, belts, visual inspection of motor for leaks, battery test, tires & air pressure. We also offer free alignment checks and brake inspections. If we need to do a more in depth inspection of the vehicle, our complete vehicle inspection for 20 bucks covers pretty much everything except for engine or electrical problems. The complete vehicle inspection is a great way to check out a car you want to buy or one that hasn’t asked for anything in awhile! Now for the slightly complicated part.. engine & electrical diagnostics. Most engine diagnostics cost $100 and most electrical diagnostics start at $50. We’ll split the two up and talk about them individually. Not every mechanic performs diagnostics. If you go to a store that only sells parts, they may offer to scan your car’s computer and sell you parts that have been known to solve those codes. This is not a diagnostic. When a technician diagnoses something, they tell you what is failing and why. Sometimes we have to fix some stuff to further diagnose the vehicle but we usually know this ahead of time. Electrical diagnostic is billed by time spent diagnosing. We start with an initial check to determine the problematic system. At this point we can provide a good estimate for the cost of the diagnostic.

Recalls are always handled by an authorized dealer since they contract directly with the manufacturer. Our systems do have information about recalls. If we see anything for your vehicle we will let you know so that you can schedule a visit at your local dealer.

This is false, you can take your car where ever you want, insurance companies have mobile adjustors that go to whatever shop your car is at for repairs.The only exception is that some insurance companies require that the initial estimate is done at one of their authorized repair facilities, only if the car is still under drive-able conditions, once that is done you can contact your insurance company and take the vehicle to your preferred repair shop.
